Sunday saw over 1000 runners gather in the shadow of the Town Hall for the Epilepsy Action Bradford 10K. With many runners representing their clubs at the Northern Road Relay, only a handful of quicker runners were on the start line.
Matthew Clough (Leeds City AC) was keen to make an early move, and had already opened up a 10-metre lead within a minute of the gun going. Last months Liversedge Half Marathon winner Ben Crowther (Halifax AC) led the chasing pack.
Clough quickly opening up a lead and ran out a comfortable winner with a winning margin of over 80 seconds, with Crowther untroubled in second, Gabriel Gunnink (U/A) took third place.
In the Ladies race, things weren’t quite so one sided. Margaret Beever (Stainland Lions) and Alison Campbell (Sheffield Uni) were within 10 metres of each other throughout the entire race. With 600 metres to go they were neck and neck, Beever pulled clear in the finishing straight to take the honours, with Campbell 8 seconds a drift in second and Julie Bucknell (U/A) third.
